A few days ago, Georgian Prime Minister Garibashvili paid a one-day state visit to Turkmenistan, and announced that Georgia-Turkmenistan will open direct flights, and at the same time, Turkish goods will be transported westward through Georgian railways and ports.
Davitashvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, said that during the Prime Minister's visit to Turkey, the two countries signed a cooperation agreement on transportation between Georgia and Turkey, and the Turkish side will use Georgia's transportation and logistics infrastructure to export fertilizers to Western countries.
On the 19th, when Garibashvili visited Uzbekistan, he and Uzbekistan also reached a similar agreement, Uzbekistan will use the South Caucasus corridor to transport its own goods.
Due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine (Kran), Central Asian countries encountered difficulties in transporting goods through Russia. Recently, Kazakh oil and other Central Asian cargoes have been diverted to Europe via Georgia and Turkey. As a result, there is congestion at the checkpoints at the Georgia and Azerbaijan land border crossings.
