CRRC Tangshan Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CRRC Tangshan Co., Ltd.) launched the first train of the Porto subway in Portugal on the 26th in Tangshan, Hebei Province. The train test will be carried out, marking the official delivery of China's first EU urban rail project.

It is understood that the Porto Metro and Maintenance Project was officially signed on January 21, 2020, which is China's first order in the European Union's urban rail vehicle market.

CRRC Tangshan Company was founded in 1881 and built China's first standard gauge railway and China's first steam locomotive. This time, the company will produce 18 metro trains totaling 72 units (4 units each) for the Porto Metro Company, and provide maintenance services for a period of five years. On November 17, 2021, the project officially started production at CRRC Tangshan.

According to Dong Aiwen, Porto project manager of CRRC Tangshan Company, the train has newly designed wheel treads and car body structure according to the characteristics of Porto's existing tracks and infrastructure, and can run on most of Porto's subway lines. Through the train-ground wireless communication system, the train status information and fault information can be sent to the ground operation and maintenance assistance platform in real time to realize intelligent operation and maintenance.

Dong Aiwen said that the train is equipped with a passenger counting system, which sends the passenger flow information to the control center in real time to achieve precise operation. The train is also equipped with an auxiliary driving function to guide drivers to drive economically and save energy. The maximum passenger capacity of each train is 334 people, and the maximum speed is 80 kilometers per hour. It has the advantages of light weight, low energy consumption, low noise and intelligence.

It is understood that the new subway trains exported to Porto, Portugal will meet the growing demand of local subway passenger flow, help the further expansion of the subway network, and facilitate urban transportation.
