On August 8, Wuling Air EV, the first new energy vehicle produced by Chinese auto brand Wuling's Indonesian plant, rolled off the assembly line at Wuling Industrial Park in Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia.
Indonesian Coordinating Minister of Economy Airlanga, Minister of Industry Agus, and Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Lu Kang attended the offline ceremony and tested the car respectively.
Airlanga praised the car in Chinese as "very good". He said that Indonesian people will be able to buy new energy vehicles at reasonable prices, which will help reduce environmental pollution. Airlanga said that the new energy vehicles produced by the Chinese-funded factory will not only be sold in the Indonesian market, but also exported to India, Egypt and other countries and regions around the world. Lu Kang affirmed that Wuling Indonesia has created more than 10,000 jobs locally, and actively responded to the Indonesian government's green economy plan.
According to Shi Guoyong, general manager of SAIC-GM-Wuling Indonesia, the Indonesian government has designated this brand of new energy vehicles as the official vehicles for the G20 summit held in Bali in November this year.
Wuling Indonesia factory was built in 2015. It is the first Chinese auto company to invest in Indonesia, and it is also the largest auto manufacturing base invested by China in Indonesia. The factory covers an area of 60 hectares and has created more than 10,000 local jobs. The factory is jointly built by OEMs and supporting supplier companies, and invites important parts and components companies in the supply chain system to "go overseas" together, creating the first "Indonesian model" in which the entire automotive industry chain goes out together.
