As the main force of long-distance transportation of bulk materials, railway plays a key role in the national comprehensive transportation system and plays a decisive role in accelerating the construction of a new domestic and international "double cycle" development pattern.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Shandong has constantly adjusted the structure of railway freight transport. By organizing and running freight trains, it has provided diversified and customized freight transport service products for international trade enterprises. It has realized that the train routes cover the main ports in Shandong and connect with the main trunk lines in the country. The freight transport volume ranks first in the country.

Since 2013, Xu Chenggang, a senior engineer of the Freight Department of China Railway Jinan Bureau Group Co., Ltd., has been responsible for the management of railway freight trains, becoming a witness and witness to the changes of Shandong railway freight transport in the past decade. According to him, at present, the freight trains of the State Railway Jinan Bureau are loading 11760 cars and unloading 17282 cars every day, delivering 662000 tons of goods every day, with an annual delivery volume of 230 million tons, up 15.1% compared with ten years ago. This is due to the construction and opening of many railway freight transport corridors in Deda, Longyan, Wari and Qingyan, forming a "four vertical and four horizontal" railway transport backbone, laying a solid foundation for the incremental improvement of freight transport quality. At the same time, Ludi worked together to speed up the implementation of the policy of "transit from public transport to railway transport", build, renovate and expand 55 special lines for enterprises, and the cumulative increment of "transit from public transport to railway transport" reached 52 million tons, which greatly reduced the logistics cost of international trade, and also contributed to the economic and railway strength to win the blue sky defense war.

What made Xu Chenggang feel most was the change brought about by the freight train operation in the past decade. First of all, there are more train routes. At first, there were only seven "five definite" direct train routes in Shandong, mainly transporting bulk goods. With the help of the national transportation structure adjustment, the railway sector has accelerated the supply side structural reform, optimized the freight train organization mode, put new container products into use, improved the railway port dredging transportation network, and made every effort to undertake the transfer of goods by road to provide precise services for international trade enterprises. After nearly 10 years of efforts, Shandong has built a freight train network of "connecting Japan and South Korea in the east, connecting Europe and Asia in the west, connecting the whole country directly, and connecting the whole province through network", and has formed more than 160 freight trains, including China Europe Central Asia trains, express freight trains, Dazong direct trains, point-to-point direct trains, fixed cycle trains, etc. At present, freight trains of China Railway Jinan Bureau account for 70% of all freight trains.

Secondly, the efficiency of train transportation is higher. All the provincial trains have achieved the goal of "arriving on the same day", and all the trans provincial direct trains have achieved the goal of "800 daily trains and 1000 night trains". The farthest Urumqi train has been operated, and the operation time has been reduced from 14 days to 6 days, doubling the transportation efficiency and capacity.

Third, China Europe regular trains have grown from nothing to more. Since there is no unified and complete Eurasian train management platform, and the coordination with port customs clearance and foreign trade enterprises is not smooth, Shandong China Europe Train has no obvious advantages at the beginning of its operation, and there is less than one train every day. Through the establishment of hubs, platforms, networks, increased operation routes, and improved operation efficiency, the competitiveness of China EU trains has been continuously improved in recent years, with more and more trains operating. Today, the "Qilu" Eurasian Express has enjoyed a blowout growth, reaching more than 20 countries and 50 cities, with more than 6000 round-trip trains running. In 2021, the number of "Qilu" Eurasian Express will rank fourth in China.

Unlike other provinces, which set up a China Europe train operation point, Shandong, as a large manufacturing province with all industrial sectors in the country, is a "bridgehead" connecting Japan and South Korea and opening up to Northeast Asia. Shandong has many types of goods for international trade export and transit. Nine cities in the province run China Europe trains, forming three China Europe train assembly centers in Jinan, Qingdao and Linyi.

The Eurasian Express has continuously delivered "Made in Shandong" to the countries and regions along the "the Belt and Road". The categories of goods delivered have grown from more than a dozen to more than 100, with the main categories being food, culture and education, white goods, machinery and equipment, textiles, etc., becoming the "super king of goods" in Shandong's international trade; The return train brings a large number of foreign high-quality products to Qilu. More than 20 kinds of products, such as plates, cotton yarn, lead ingots, and wood products, continue to enter our production and life, further meeting the needs of the people for a better life.
