Chengdu launched the first blockchain international trade train in China

2023-01-13

On December 3, 2022, an international trade freight train loaded with electric bicycles, stones, tiles, lamps and other export commodities set out from Chengdu (Shuangliu) air-railway international transport port to Vientiane, the capital of Laos. It is worth noting that this train has one of its biggest features - the first application of blockchain technology to the international trade intermodal transport chain.

"In the past, we wanted to know where the goods have gone. In the morning, we asked the overseas agent, and then we received an email reply in the afternoon. Now with blockchain technology, we can know the transportation of the goods at any time." Manager Huang of a logistics company said that once the goods arrive at the destination station, the "shipper" will immediately know, and immediately notify the "consignee" to improve the overall efficiency of transportation.

"Blockchain technology can solve the problem of distrust in the international trade environment." The relevant person in charge of the Digital Finance Department of China Railway Chengdu Bureau Group Co., Ltd. believes that blockchain technology has the advantages of decentralization, tamperability and traceability, and can enable importers, exporters, freight forwarders, customs, railway administrations, banks and other participants to "go online", share information, and achieve information transparency, It can lay a solid foundation for exploring the innovation of the "railway+" multimodal transport one-bill system+supply chain financial model.

It is understood that this blockchain international trade train is the innovative use of blockchain technology on the China Laos railway international trade freight train line, relying on the blockchain pilot platform independently developed by the railway, in close cooperation between China Railway Chengdu Bureau Group Co., Ltd., Kunming Railway Bureau Group Co., Ltd., Laos China Railway Co., Ltd. and Chengdu Airport Modern Service Industry Development Co., Ltd.
