Bulletproof and Explosion-proof Glass

In bomb attacks and unexpected explosion events, bomb resistant glass can minimize the direct damage caused by the ultra-high load of explosion shock waves and high-speed splashing of glass fragments, and reduce the repair costs of attacked facilities or facilities around the explosion center. The anti bomb glass maintains impenetrability under the condition of a sharp increase in the load generated by the energy of the explosion shock wave, which is several times or even dozens of times larger. The glass retention value RET ≈ 1. Once a single piece of glass breaks, as long as it slightly exceeds the critical breaking pressure RET, it quickly drops below 0.3, causing glass fragments to scatter and cause penetrating damage.

1. Capable of withstanding large bomb explosion impact loads;

2. After being hit by a bomb explosion, the glass remained inside the frame.

Bomb proof glass combination:

Type A: DFB8+polymer material+DFB8

Type B: DFB10+polymer material+DFB10

Comparison between bomb proof glass and other glass in terms of explosion resistance:

When ordinary glass (annealed, tempered, or semi tempered) is impacted by a bomb explosion, glass fragments are scattered, causing penetrating damage to the glass and causing serious injuries to personnel and indoor facilities. RET≈0-0.2。

When ordinary laminated glass is impacted by a bomb explosion, the glass will break and the shock wave will enter the room. In serious cases, the whole piece of broken glass will fly up and hit the human body, causing serious injury. The overall damage range is smaller than that of ordinary glass. RET≈0.3-0.5。

When the anti bomb glass is impacted by a bomb explosion, it bends backwards and the frame system compresses and cushions backwards. The glass is intact or ruptures, but there are basically no fragments splashing out, ensuring that indoor personnel and facilities are not harmed. RET≈1.0。

Note:

RET: Retention value, indicating the overall retention of the glass within the frame.

RET=weight of glass after explosion impact/weight of glass before explosion impact

When RET=1.0, the entire glass remains inside the frame, fragments are not scattered, and the glass does not penetrate;

When RET=0, the entire glass leaves the frame, fragments scatter, and penetrating failure occurs.

Polymer polymers are generally PVB, and there are also other types of transparent bulletproof films, but PVB is a commonly used material.
